SIODFA indicated in a report published by FAO in 2006 that four deep-sea trawl vessels have regularly fished the high seas of the Southern Indian Ocean for orange roughy and alfonsino since 2003. The four vessels were flagged to Namibia, Australia and the Cook Islands. Not all of the vessels fish all year round.
