Overview: The main high seas bottom fisheries in the South West Atlantic region currently occur on the Patagonian Shelf and upper slope areas beyond 200 nautical miles from the baseline from which the breath of the territorial sea is measured south of 40°S latitude and north of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) (FAO Statistical Area 41.3).
