Conservation and management methods with focus on Input & Output control

  • Aquatic species-related measures
    Size limits applied as minimum legal length for major commercial species. The total length of the narrow-barred Spanish mackerel should not be less than 45 cm.
  • Vessel-related measures
    No new licenses for dhows are issued.
  • Fishing activity-related measures
    Limiting the number of fishing trips (3 landings/vessel/month) during April-June every year. Closed fishing season 15 February – 15 May for female crabs carrying eggs for all trap dhow and skiff fisheries.
