Overview: Shrimp (Penaeus subtilis) trawling fishery represent, respectively, 16% of overall country production in 2016 and 11% in 2017. Country overall production has been 4465 tons in 2016 and 4336 tons in 2017.

Climatic zone: Tropical.   Bottom type: Soft bottom.   Depth zone: Coastal - Shallow waters, inshore (0 m - 50 m); Shelf (50 m - 200 m); Slope - Upperslope (200 m - 500 m).   Horizontal distribution: Littoral; Oceanic.  

Depth zone is usually between 30 and 100 m depth. In 2019 some boats were allowed to fish in <30m depth for exploration.
